Ice or Heat- How do I treat??

Soft tissue pain that involves pain with swelling i.e. inflammation, should get ice or even better R.I.C.E. (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation). Usually inflammation comes from an injury and the First Aid treatment should be utilized for a few days after onset of pain.

Use heat mostly only when a body needs relief from tense and tight muscles. Moreover, ice is the way to go; especially to help reduce pain.

Ice comes with none of harmful side affects medication/drugs.

Remember to never apply ice directly to the skin risking a cold burn. Treatment should be 10-20 minutes at at time (or simply enough time to numb the affected area).
